Family Portrait in Yoakum, TX

September 5, 2013

One of the most important things to my wife and me is family. My wife is from South Louisiana and getting together for a crawfish boil, fishing trip, Destin beach lounging or an LSU football game is a regular occurrence. For my family it’s camping, golfing or a good ‘ole BBQ. We recently got together with my family for the weekend and attended a church picnic at my parent’s church. If you haven’t been to a church picnic (basically a fundraiser) in small South Texas town, its a sight to behold.

You will find games for the kids, cake walks and auctions where Quilts go for as much as $1,000 and a dozen Kolaches can be fetched for $100! If you haven’t heard of or had a Kolache, you are in for a treat! Its a pastry that holds fruit and they are crazy good.

While we were there, I couldn’t help but do what I love most— I photographed my sister and her family and had to fun of capturing the relationship they have with their kids. This was the best part of the trip. Here are some of the shots.

Enjoy…
